Brie Larson Shares the Advice She Gives To Superhero Genre Newcomers
After appearing as Captain Marvel in four Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies, including Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and The Marvels, it is safe to say that Brie Larson is a superhero veteran.
In fact, with many of the original Avengers, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johannson, leaving the MCU behind, Larson suddenly finds herself among the elder statesmen of the universe.

Having been a part of Marvel’s highest highs (Captain Marvel, Endgame) and its lowest lows (The Marvels), Larson also has a unique perspective on the fame and trappings that come with being a Marvel star.
Larson’s Advice
In a recent discussion as part of a Drama Actress Roundtable discussion for The Hollywood Reporter, Larson revealed that she takes her role as a veteran of the superhero genre seriously and will reach out to newcomers.

“I’m the first person to email everybody because it’s very specific and very strange. People are like, ‘I don’t know how to do this.’ Yeah, no one does. Why would you?” she said.

“I’ll say, ‘Train, because you’ll want to be as prepared in your body as you possibly can because it only gets harder as the job goes on. And really understand how to be able to go to the bathroom in your suit.’ The first Captain Marvel, it was a 45-minute thing to get me in and out of that costume.”
Handling the Pressure
While Larson is now comfortable in her superhero suit, the actress admitted that headlining a Marvel movie comes with “a lot of pressure.”
“I think it’s a strange thing, especially when you’re a newcomer, and you’re tasked with being the most powerful blah, blah, blah of blah, blah, blah, and you feel scared. It’s so hard to be the cool, confident one when you’re like, ‘Do I know what I’m supposed to be doing?’”

While The Marvels was not the success that Larson, or Marvel, was likely hoping it would be, the actress remains one of Marvel’s biggest stars.

With Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon, we have likely not seen the last of Captain Marvel.
