Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Laud Emma Corrin for Their ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Performance
The third installment in the Deadpool franchise will not only see Hugh Jackman reprise his iconic role as Wolverine, but the film has teased a TON of cameos.
From Liv Schreiber’s Sabertooth to Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, Deadpool & Wolverine will seemingly bridge the gap between the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the Fox X-Men movies in an unprecedented way.
Outside of its returning heroes and villains, the third Deadpool film will also introduce a big bad to the MCU — Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova.
The superpowered sister of Professor Charles Xavier will serve as the upcoming film’s main antagonist, and by the sound of things, fans should be excited.
Reynolds Praises Emma Corrin
In a recent interview with Harpers Bazaar, Ryan Reynolds was effusive in his praise of Corin’s performance.
“It felt like working with a skin-covered Swiss Army knife,” Reynolds said. “Emma brought a Gene Wilder energy to Deadpool & Wolverine. Mischief, danger, unpredictability — from their first scene onward, we understand the villain enough to know why she’s motivated to oppose our heroes. And that’s because Emma is so [freaking] excellent at humanizing even the most chaotic lines. The only thing we love more than hating a villain is loving one. And we love Emma’s Cassandra Nova from the jump.”
Like Reynolds, Hugh Jackman was impressed with Corrin’s abilities as an actor.
“Emma has an ability to so subtly change — to turn on a dime,” Jackman said. “There was an effortlessness, a sense of danger.”
Corrin Admits Not Being a “Marvel Person”
Discussing their jump into the MCU with Empire last year, Corrin explained how exciting and overwhelming the experience was.
“Hands up, I’m not a Marvel person,” Corrin said. “I’ve watched Spider-Man and Black Panther. I was like, ‘Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.’ It’s such an intricate world. There’s so much to it….All the language and the Easter eggs, and this person is related to that person who did this, and this person came back and this person’s dead . . . it’s amazing.”
Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26.
