Here Are 11 Reasons to Visit Disney World This Summer!
Are you still on the fence regarding your summer vacation plans?
I’m happy to tell you that there’s still plenty of time for you to take a trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Here are 11 reasons to visit Walt Disney World this summer!
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
On July 1st, Disney updated something that has remained the same since the 1970s.
Disney has removed the old Cabins from Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort from the hotel campus.
You can actually buy them via a real estate agent for about $50k.
Of course, for much less money, you can book a stay at the brand new Cabins, which officially open in about five weeks.
Disney has modernized the Cabin concept to create more efficient spaces, ones that are also more thematic.
The early images of these Cabins are breathtaking, and you could be among the first to experience one of them!
¡Celebración Encanto!
On June 10th, Disney will kicked off several summer events to highlight the culmination of EPCOT’s reinvention.
Park officials are putting the final touches on a multi-year reimagining of the former Future World into three Neighborhoods.
As part of this celebration, Disney will host several limited-time activities, the most exciting of which is an Encanto show.
Disney promises a show that “runs several times throughout the day.”
It’s a singalong where “you’ll also spot Mirabel and Bruno on the newly opened CommuniCore Plaza stage.”
So, you can expect this one to be a rollickin’ good time.
CommuniCore Hall & Plaza
Here’s the reason for the above stage show. After years of promises, the next version of CommuniCore is finally here.
MickeyBlog readers know from all your marvelous park reporters that Disney put the finishing touches on this place not long ago.
Disney transitioned this area to one of the new hubs of the park.
You can think of it as the ultimate hangout spot, offering shows and character meetings, some of which are permanent.
In fact, hold that thought for a minute!
Country Bear Musical Jamboree
Te former Country Bear Jamboree has returned to Magic Kingdom.
The show has an updated format, though. Gone are the classic western comedy tunes we know and love.
In their place, Disney is working with some of Nashville’s brightest stars to create new country versions of classic Disney tunes.
It returned earlier this month, and we love the adorable new outfits the Country Bears wear.
This is a hysterical modern take on the classic Country Bears premise.
Disney Dreams That Soar, Presented by AT&T
Drone shows are all the rage at Disney’s international theme parks. However, they do come with a bit of risk.
For this reason, Walt Disney World has made a clever business decision with its first drone show.
Disney Springs will host this event, thereby ensuring that any stray drones will fall harmlessly into the water.
So, fans can simply watch this breathtaking show and admire the glory of drone technology. It’s truly astounding.
Even better, since you’re watching at Disney Springs, the crowds will be smaller and more spread out than at a Disney theme park!
Inside Out Character Greetings
Inside Out 2 debuted in theaters on June 14th, and if you haven’t purchased tickets yet, you’d better hurry. It’s had a monster opening.
I’ve written an article positing that we may get more Inside Out experiences at theme parks soon.
I was confident that this film would perform well and create the summer of Inside Out at Disney.
Park officials agree with me, as they’ve moved the former EPCOT character greeting spot of Joy and Sadness.
Now, you’ll find new character interactions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including Anxiety.
Presumably, some of the other new emotions will show up at some point, but that’s not confirmed yet.
So, expect the classic characters (plus Anxiety) and then be surprised if you get to interact with other Inside Out 2 characters.
Journey of Water | Inspired by Moana
If you’re one of the lucky few, you’ve already experienced Journey of Water.
This walkthrough interactive attraction technically debuted last October, although Disney was allowing some guests last summer.
Still, the summer of 2024 reflects the first time you can officially explore the remarkable water play area.
Perfectly in keeping with EPCOT’s original premise, Journey of Water delivers infotainment, but it’s not as preachy as some classic attractions.
Instead, you can just have fun, play in the water, and remember how much you love Moana.
Here’s MickeyBlog’s first encounter with this experience. You can tell our joy:
Meet Mickey & Friends
Remember when I mentioned the permanent character interactions at CommuniCore Hall & Plaza?
Well, here’s the biggie. Members of the Sensational Six host guest interactions here.
Specifically, Mickey Mouse will hold court as the star of the new open space at CommuniCore!
You can always find Mickey and some of his dearest friends here, and they’ll put on quite the show for you.
Disney intended for CommuniCore to be a gathering spot for families and children of all ages to embrace their Disney fandom.
So, you’ll want to plan to spend time here during every EPCOT visit!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Okay, this one’s admittedly a bit later in the summer…but not as late as you might think!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will start earlier than ever in 2024.
Specifically, Disney hosts the first party on August 9th. So, those of you visiting later in the summer can celebrate Halloween early!
Even better, the early Halloween parties are often among the most raucous as dedicated fans are typically the first to arrive!
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Okay, here’s the showstopper of summer 2024.
On June 28th, the new splashdown attraction at Magic Kingdom finally opened after more than a year of hype.
Disney has promised state-of-the-art Audio-Animatronics and some of the best music on a theme park ride ever.
Fans of The Princess and the Frog – and that should be ALL of us! – anxiously counted down the days we can enjoy this one…and it’s finally here!
You can watch the full ride through here!
Tron Lightcycle / Run
Every theme park needs an alpha, a thrill ride that towers over everything else.
For the foreseeable future, Tron Lightcycle / Run will hold the title as the alpha of Magic Kingdom and arguably all of Disney World.
This roller coaster takes no prisoners, delivering a motorcycle-esque experience at nearly 60 miles per hour.
Due to the unique nature of the Tron backdrop, this coaster plays out like Space Mountain in that it feels faster than it is.
This attraction is Disney’s latest masterpiece and almost single-handedly justifies a summer trip to Magic Kingdom!
