A ‘WandaVision’ Spinoff Starring Paul Bettany’s Vision Is in Development
The long-rumored WandaVision spinoff starring Paul Bettany’s Vision is finally officially in production.
The currently unnamed project will see the return of Bettany’s popular Avenger, Vision, following the events of WandaVision.
The Return of Vision
While the original Vision died at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, an incorporeal version of the character was brought back to life through a combination of Wanda Maxioff’s magic and grief.
As that Vision was living with Wanda in Westview, S.W.O.R.D was hard at work creating a second android version of the deceased Avenger. Eventually, Wanda’s Vision restored White Vision’s memories before the latter flew out of Westview.
The upcoming series will likely pick up on White Vision’s search for self-discovery and follow his adventures after his escape from Westview.
Terry Matalas Has Been Tapped to Helm the Series
The upcoming Vision series will be helmed by Star Trek: Picard showrunner Terry Matalas, who recently picked up a WGA award for the third season of the Star Trek series. It will also be the first live-action series that Marvel has picked up in two years.
A lot has changed at Marvel Studios since the release of WanadaVision. With the studio previously announcing that it would overhaul how it makes television, the production of the Vision series will likely be drastically different than its predecessors.
Previously, it had been reported that WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer was working on a Vision series. He has since moved off the project to focus on Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha All Along, which will premiere in September.
While we don’t have an official premiere date for the upcoming Vision series, the show is expected to be released in 2026.
