Disney Celebrates World Storytelling Day By Explaining the Magic Behind Stories
You may or may not know this, but today is World Storytelling Day!
I don’t know about you, but when I think of storytelling, I think of Disney. After all, for over 100 years, Disney has been the pre-eminent storyteller, not just in movies but also in television and theme parks around the world.
In fact, according to Andrew Hendricks, it is through the power of stories that Disney makes magic and dreams come true and “connects to people across the world.”
“It provides us an opportunity to explore life,” Hendricks added. “And reflect on the human experience.”
A Full-Circle Moment For Cast Members
For many Cast Members and Disney employees, Disney has been a part of their stories since they were young, and now they get to inspire others.
“My childhood is just filled with Disney memories,” Jasmine Ervin, Associate Manager, Sports Brand Solutions at Disney Advertising Sales, said. “So, it’s really surreal and a full circle moment that my story is now a part of the Disney story.”
“Stories engage, stories inspire, stories bring the audience in, and when they can see themselves within the story, they will take away an experience that can’t get anywhere else,” said Chuck Jones, Senior Vice President, Finance & Events, Disneyland Resort.
The Disney Magic
As Disney fans, I think it is safe to say that storytelling not only contributed to what made us fans in the first place but also what keeps us coming back.
So happy World Storytelling Day! And thank you, Disney, for 100 years of stories.
