‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Star Karan Soni Says “There Are a Lot of Surprises” in Store for Fans
When Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26 this year, Ryan Reynolds’s master plan will finally be revealed to the world.
While a lot has been made out of Hugh Jackman’s return to his iconic role as Wolverine in the film, according to Karan Soni, who plays Dopinder in all three Deadpool films, Reynolds has been plotting this team-up for a while.
“When we were making the second one, Ryan was plotting back then,” Soni said. “I remember him spilling that at lunch one day that he had started a conversation with Hugh. I remember saying, ‘People are going to flip out!’ Then, the studio got sold to Disney, and a lot of other stuff happened. But, of course, Ryan followed through because it was dream casting.”
Seeing Hugh Jackman on Set
When Soni finally got to see Jackman on set, the actor was awed.
“He walks in. And you’re just kind of staring at the person and you’re like, OK, this is a movie star. He’s very kind, very nice, and has such a presence.”
Surprises Are in Store for Fans
While Soni has been careful not to run afoul of his new MCU overlords, he did tease that fans will be thrilled by Deadpool & Wolverine.
This new MCU version is ultra-secretive,” he said. “There are a lot of surprises,” he said, adding, “Let’s just say a lot of people traveled to London.”
As the only Marvel Studios film to hit theaters in 2023, all eyes will be on Wolverine & Deadpool when it arrives. By the sound of things, Disney has little to worry about.
