Veteran Voice Actor Mark Dodson Has Passed Away at 64
Legendary voice actor Mark Dodson, who was perhaps best known for his roles in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Gremlins, has passed away at 64.
The news was first shared by his talent agency, Stellear, Appearances, in an Instagram post on Sunday.
“Mark worked on dozens of movies, video games, commercials and advertisements, adding his unique voice and sound to each character and script he touched,” Stellar Appearances’ post read. “Mark leaves behind a wonderful family, close friends, and adoring fans around the world. The family asks for privacy during this difficult time.”
Dodson Was Set to Attend a Horror Convention
According to his daughter, Dodson was staying in Evansville, Indiana when he suffered a heart attack. He had been set to attend the Evansville Horror Con at the time of his passing.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fans during this incredibly difficult time,” the Evansville Horror Con wrote on Facebook. “We hope that you can take a moment out of your day to reflect on the joy and laughter that Mark brought into the world. His legacy will live on through his work.”
“Rest in peace, Mark. You will be remembered and missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing you and experiencing your talent,” the post concluded.
A Star Wars Veteran
Dodson originally joined Star Wars in 1983, playing Salacious Crum in Return of the Jedi. He would later reprise his role in the 2022 video game Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
The voice actor would rejoin Star Wars in 2016 when he voiced the role of Niima Scavenger in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
