Disney World To Change Room-Only Cancellation Policy in 2025
Hot on the heels of the news that guests staying on Disney World property will get complimentary access to the resort’s water parks on the day of their check-in, the resort is also changing its cancellation policy.
When it comes to booking reservations through Disney World, there are essentially two main routes you can take. The first is booking a Disney Vacation Package. This option includes both a hotel reservation and theme park tickets.
The other option is to simply book a room-only reservation.
Room-Only Cancellation Policy Is Changing in 2025
Previously, for guests with room-only reservations, cancellations could be made up to five days before their reservation without incurring a fee.
Beginning in 2025, however, that window will be extended to eight days before a room-only reservation, meaning guests will need to cancel three days earlier to avoid a penalty.
What About Disney Vacation Packages?
It is important to note that Disney Vacation Packages, which include theme parks, have a different cancellation policy.
Those packages can be canceled 30 days or more before the guest’s arrival date without incurring a penalty. Reservations canceled inside the 30-day window are assessed a $200 cancellation fee. This essentially means that guests are not refunded their deposit.
Finally, if you cancel the Disney Vacation Package the day before your arrival, it is non-refundable.
As of now, Disney is only changing the room-only cancellation policy in 2025. All other cancellation policies will seemingly remain the same.
