How Asajj Ventress Returned For ‘The Bad Batch’
Of all the current Star Wars characters, there is perhaps none as interesting as Asajj Ventress.
Ventress first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as an apprentice of Count Dooku and a perpetual enemy of the Jedi during the war.

Originally hailing from Dathomir, Ventress continued to grow strong in the Dark Side of the Force, eventually drawing the attention of Darth Sidious. Growing increasingly weary of her strength, Palpatine ordered Dooku to eliminate Ventress.

The Nightsister would survive Dooku’s attempt on her life. Swearing revenge, she took to becoming a bounty hunter, becoming something of an uneasy ally to Ahsoka Tano and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Ventress’ Stunning Return
In the book Dark Disciple, Ventress was seemingly killed by Dooku as she saved Jedi Master Quilan Vos.
Star Wars fans were understandably surprised when Ventress appeared in the trailer for The Bad Batch season 3.

In a recent interview with The Direct, The Bad Batch’s head writer, Jennifer Corbett, and supervising director, Brad Rau, discussed the character’s unlikely return.
“Yeah, I mean, we’re huge Ventress fans. And when we talked with our creative team to figure out that we could bring her into the storyline. We were very excited. We pulled designs from unaired arcs of the Clone Wars which inspired the novel ‘Dark Disciple,’ and we’re not contradicting anything that happened in ‘Dark Disciple.’”
Ventress Could Be Featured in More Stories
Interestingly, Rau stated that not only does Ventress play a key role in The Bad Batch, but she could also be featured in more Star Wars stories going forward.

“But I will say that not all of the answers to the mystery of interest will be told in ‘The Bad Batch’ show. There may be future answers down the road in something else. But it was really great to have that character in our show to interact with our characters. [It] was really cool.”

Ventress has now gone from a character who was seemingly dead to one of the most intriguing characters moving forward in the Star Wars story. What happens next is anybody’s guess.
