“Journey of Water” Structures Take Shape at EPCOT
The incredible transformation at EPCOT continues to make quick progress with construction walls coming down, and crews working at a swift pace to make the multi-year dream plan become a reality. With so many openings in the park recently (and a big one in the very near future), we took a trip around the monorail to check on another exciting project in the works at the theme park.
The concrete walkway appears laid for “Journey of Water,” an immersive experience that will take guests through a “Moana”-themed stroll. It will be the first attraction dedicated to the animated heroine since the film’s release in 2016.
A number of structures that will give height to the exhibition took shape over the last few days. Some appear to be ready to create the waterfalls and mountainous effects shown in designs for the area the debuted during the 2019 during the D23 Expo.
“This lush explorationt trail will invite you to meet and play with magical, living water,” said Disney Parks Blog in a post following the announcement. “The water will have a life of its own – just like Moana’s friend, the ocean – and you’ll learn about the importance of the natural water cycle.”
Along with structures that appear to be ready to create those natural effects, others appear to be much larger perhaps serving as small buildings situated within the attraction.
“Journey of Water” technically sits in World Celebration. With an emphasis on the importance of the water cycle though, the immersive walking path also lends itself to the neighboring theme at World Nature, the area of the park that also houses the Land Pavillion as well as the Seas Pavillion.
The space finds itself perfectly situated outside of the recently opened new quick-service dining option, Connections Cafe and Eatery. That location also now hosts EPCOT’s Starbucks location and sits across the walkway from the park’s new merchandise location, Creations Shop.
Other Exciting EPCOT Openings
Later this month, a focal point of World Discovery finally opens at EPCOT. “Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind” began cast member previews a couple weeks ago and opens to the public on May 27th. We can’t wait for this exciting new thrill ride!
