The Festival of the Arts lasts from January 12th to February 19th, 2024, and as per its namesake art is the centerpiece of this festival — even the food dishes are pieces of art! We’re stopping by a returning booth for some hearty dishes, and here’s what we thought.
Pastoral Palate
Pastoral Palate can be found in the Germany Pavilion, serving up hearty dishes inspired by Bavarian Folk Art’s rustic settings.

Pastoral Palate
You can take a look at the menu below, which features two returning dishes and several drink options. You can read our review from last year here!

Pastoral Palate
There are two food items at Pastoral Palate, and we started with the Red Wine-braised Beef Short Rib for $8.75. It comes with parsnip purée, broccolini, baby tomatoes, and balsamic glaze.

Red Wine-braised Beef Short Rib
The red wine-braised short rib was very tender and fell apart with just a fork, but it was also a little dry and would have benefitted from more of the red wine reduction, which was nice and added a bit of sweetness. Overall, the short rib had a really nice seasoning too!
The parsnip puree was delicious — it reminded us of a “healthier” version of mashed potatoes.

Next, we tried the Black Forest Cake, which is made with chocolate mousse with morello cherries and chantilly cream. It costs $4.75.

Black Forest Cake
The Black Forest Cake was more like a mousse, with a crumbly base and a large section of mousse-like chocolate.
It was very rich but also reminded us of the dome desserts we’ve tried in the parks. The topping was like a whipped cream and we loved the addition of the cherries on the side.

There are several drink items on the menu, including 3 Daughters Brewing Rosé Hard Cider, 81Bay Brewing Co. Rosé Blonde Ale, Frozen Rosé, A Play on Rosé Flight, and Marietta Old Vine Rosé.
We tried the Frozen Rose for $7, which was a classic frozen rose. It was nice and sweet — a must-do!

Overall, we’d recommend this booth to anyone looking rich and unique but classic dishes.
