Disney Moves ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ Release Date Up, Secures IMAX Release
Disney is moving up the release date for Kindom of the Planet of the Apes from May 24 to May 10 in order to avoid the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
The earlier release date will allow the new Planet of the Apes film to avoid competition from Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and The Garfield Movie.
In its new release date, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will go head to head with the Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Secures IMAX Release
By moving the release date for the new Planet of the Apes, Disney will also secure an IMAX release, marking the first time a film in the franchise has been released in that format.
The latest addition to the Planet of the Apes series unfolds several generations after Caesar’s rule, portraying a world where apes reign as the dominant species while humans dwell in the shadows.
In the film, a new ape ruler named Proximus Caesar rises to power, swiftly subjugating other ape clans in his quest to uncover the last remnants of a hidden human technology.
Against this backdrop, a young ape named Mae embarks on a perilous journey. Along the way, he begins to question the truths of his past, ultimately facing a series of decisions that will shape the destinies of both apes and humans.
If you haven’t seen the first trailer for the upcoming Planet of the Apes film, watch it now.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will hit theaters on May 10, 2024.
