Walt Disney To Be Inducted As Part of the Orange County Hall of Fame Inaugural Class
Walt Disney will be one of the 10 members of the Orange County Hall of Fame inaugural class.
The initial class will be celebrated with a ceremony on Friday, January 12, in what Third District Supervisor Don Wagner has called a “pivotal moment for our community.”
The Orange County Hall of Fame Inaugural Class
The new Hall of Fame will be broken up into five categories: Music, arts and entertainment, sports, business, philanthropy, and civics.
Joining Walt Disney in the inaugural class will be Kobe Bryant, Amanda Beard, Tiger Woods, Greg Louganis, Bill Medley, Gwen Stefani, Frank Jao, Gen. William Lyon, and Henry Segerstrom.
Of the ten, only Gwen Stefani has confirmed that she will attend the event.
How Hall of Fame Members Are Chosen
Going forward, the Board of Supervisors will create a Hall of Fame Ad Hoc Committee each year. The committee will be charged with choosing that year’s 10 inductees.
Supervisors on the board can nominate five individuals or businesses, with the criteria being that they have lived or been a business owner in Orange County for 10 years and have had one significant life experience, won a big award in Orange County, or been a civic leader.
Friday’s Ceremony
Friday’s 10 a.m. ceremony will be held in the Board Hearing Room. Public viewing of the ceremony will be available in the courtyard of the County Administrative North Building. The ceremony can also be live-streamed on YouTube.
Following the ceremony, the Orange Country Hall of Fame will be displayed in the lobby of the county administration offices.
