Tornado Watch Issued for Disney World and Central Florida!
MickeyBlog is closely monitoring the weather situation and reporting updates for the Orlando and Walt Disney World area.
The most recent update includes a tornado watch issued for Disney World and Central Florida until 9 p.m.
The Central Florida area anticipates a severe weather system of intense wind and rain that is already impacting the Florida Panhandle with 55 mph winds and hail.
Tornado Watch
According to the Orlando Sentinel, a tornado watch means that conditions are right for a potential tornado within an area and that residents should be prepared and be alert.
This afternoon Governor Ron DeSantis issued a state of emergency for most of the state:
Local government officials closed most of their offices by 3 p.m and local schools have cancelled extracurricular and after-school activities.
Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties, along with the cities of Winter Springs, Oviedo, Kissimmee and St. Cloud are affected.
Tuesday Forecast
Tuesday morning and afternoon was dry with breezy conditions, but the weather is expected to change around 3pm.
Southeast winds will range from 15 to 25 mph inland with gusts up to 30 mph. Strong thunderstorms and wind gusts reaching between 40 mph and 60 mph are expected throughout the evening.
The heavy storms and winds should last until about 7 p.m.with temperatures in the mid-60s to low-70s range.
