Here’s How Today’s runDisney Event Looked
We’re only one week into 2024, and we’ve already got a runDisney event in the books for the year.
Determined runners gritted their way through a miserable day. Let’s take a look at today’s race.
Rainy Day Running
As the sign says, Disney warned early morning park guests on Sunday about the special event.
This morning’s marathon concludes a weekend of racing runDisney events, and it took a lot of work.
I had several friends at the parks this weekend, including one who completed this morning’s race.
Her husband updated us about the outing, and it sounded like one of the toughest she’s ever done as a perennial runDisney participant.
Other friends have posted images of running in ankle-high pools of rain. Here’s a picture of my impressive friend Leslie overcoming the elements:
Nobody wants to run in weather like this. It’s ridiculous. Thankfully, the skies had cleared today, as you can see:
More about runDisney 2024’s First Marathon
Still, this was an extraordinarily wet weekend for runners, which you know if you’ve been reading MickeyBlog.
Park officials previously changed the start time and modified the course for the half-marathon of runDisney 2024:
This morning’s event went off without a hitch, but it was a struggle for the participants.
Meanwhile, regular park guests faced unusually large crowds for this time of year. Here’s the path to Test Track.
Obviously, these events are excellent for people-watching. You can see the crowds form behind the roped areas:
Some of them are loyal friends and family members supporting the racers. Others are just mystified bystanders.
Who goes to Disney and runs a marathon? You’re already walking a ton while at the parks!
But the one thing such observations miss is that runDisney has become a lifestyle for many. Look at how focused these runners are:

Everyone does Disney in their own way, and for runners, there are few highs like that moment when a cast member hands you the medal for course completion.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in runDisney 2024 this weekend. You did it!
