Jonathan Majors Will Give His First Post-Conviction Interview to ABC News
In what can only be described as a surprising turn of events, Jonathan Majors will give his first interview following his domestic assault conviction to Disney-owned ABC News.
The interview will be conducted by Linsey Davis and will debut on Good Morning America on Monday, January 8. Additional segments will run on GMA 3, and an extended version will be played on Davis’ Prime program on ABC New Live later in the day.
IMPACT x Nightline will also have a half-hour special featuring more unaired segments. That program will debut on January 11, exclusively on Hulu.
Majors Was Dropped By Marvel After His Guilty Verdict
On December 18, 2023, Majors was convicted by a Manhattan jury of reckless assault and harassment regarding a March incident with his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.
Following the actor’s conviction, he was quickly fired by Marvel Studios. Majors had previously portrayed Kang the Conquerer in both seasons of the Disney+ series Loki and in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantuamania. The actor was expected to permeate the upcoming slate of Marvel films, culminating with appearances in Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Marvel Had Stood By Majors
Following his March arrest, Majors was dumped by several entities. These included The United States Army, Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers, and the actor’s PR and management teams.
Marvel, however, chose to remain silent on Majors’ legal troubles and even aired Season 2 of Loki as the actor’s trial was getting set to begin.
Just hours after the verdict, Marvel finally made their decision, publically announcing that Majors would no longer be working with the studio. They have since reverted the name of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty back to Avengers 4.
A Strange Decision by Disney
The choice of Disney-owned ABC as the outlet for his first interview is a strange one. Marvel received public criticism for standing by Majors following his arrest. Now, even if Majors exonerates the studio in his interview, it will seem like a PR stunt.
Nevertheless, audiences will want to hear from Majors, and his interview will be news. Perhaps then, Disney has decided that the ends justify the means.
