How to Have Rainy Day Fun at Walt Disney World!
Oh no! You are vacationing at Walt Disney World and experiencing one of our random all-day gray and rainy days!
While Orlando is known for its sunny days and (mostly) beautiful weather, every once in awhile we get hit with a day like today! But don’t let that dampen your fun.
Simply check the weather apps, grab your poncho, wear an extra layer, and get ready for a great day.
There are still plenty of great offerings at Disney World on a rainy day- here are a few of my faves.
Resort Hop
One of my favorite things to do in general, but especially on a gloomy, rainy day is hop on a monorail and explore the three monorail resorts: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
Each resort is uniquely themed and has awesome offerings.
You can enjoy character dining, delicious restaurants, and souvenir shopping! There is something cool at each of the resorts and this provides the perfect break from a rainy day.
Stop by the Pineapple Lanai in the Polynesian for a delicious DOLE whip.
Or visit Basin in the Grand Floridian and check out the newest soaps and lotions.
If you happen to be visiting over the holidays – all of the resorts are the perfect places to check out holiday decorations, iconic Christmas trees, and, of course, Disney World’s famous gingerbread houses.
Take a Break Inside
Good news- even though it’s raining, the show must go on- or at least the indoor shows! Disney has some incredible indoor shows that provide great entertainment and a fun way to wait out the rain!
Mickey’s PhilharMagic, the Tiki Room, and the Country Bear Jamboree are all great indoor attractions at the Magic Kingdom!
Visiting Animal Kingdom! Become an honorary bug at this exciting 4D adventure, It’s Tough to Be a Bug!
Or enjoy a Broadway-style show at Festival of the Lion King.
This is always one of my must-dos regardless of weather. Sit back and wait out the rain at Hollywood Studios’ Muppet Vision 3D.
If rain or storms threaten your EPCOT visit, a great option is to visit World Showcase for a tasty bite in one of the amazing restaurants.
Another option? Check out the inside attraction films: Reflections of China, Canada far and Wide, and Impressions de France.
Grab Some Grub
A rainy day is a great time to check out a new restaurant or dining experience. Rainy days (especially all day rainy days) mean plans change and cancellations pop up.
Check for last minute openings at your favorite dining experiences!
Catch a Movie at AMC Theater
Dinner and a movie is a great rainy day option! Head to Disney Springs to experience a state-of-the-art movie experience and enjoy an awesome selection of current films.
Reserved seating, Dine-in options, and the MacGuffins Bar elevates this from your average movie experience!
Make A Strike
Bowling, games, food, and more! Splitsville at Disney Springs brings the best of luxury retro-bowling with a 50,000 square foot bowling alley featuring 30 lanes, billiards, bars, and live entertainment.
Savor a unique menu of fun cocktails and enjoy elevated “alley” food! It is the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon!
