Dermot Mulroney Wants To Return in the MCU
Secret Invasion star Dermot Mulroney wants to see his character, President Ritson, run for re-election.
With Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross set to ascend to the Presidency for Captain America: Brave New World, it seems as if Ritson’s time in the Oval Office is coming to an end.
Mulroney Would Love to Return
Still, if he had his way, Mulroney’s Marvel story would not be over yet. When asked if he would like to see Ritson on the debate stage with Ross, Mulroney was quick to jump on the idea.
“Now, we’re talking, that’s the kind of spin-off thinking. Yes, the answer is a hard yes,” Mulroney told ComicBook.com
Whatever the future holds for President Ritson, Mulroney made it clear that he has been kept in the dark.
“Call Kevin Feige right now. You have his number right? Because, I don’t and let him know that I’ll be running against Thaddeus. What’s his freaking name? I don’t know. Now, you think they tell me anything? They don’t!”
Will Marvel Continue Ritson’s Story?
While Secret Invasion was maligned by critics and fans alike, the role of the President of the United States will be an important one in the MCU’s future. With Ross being set up as a foil to Sam Wilson, perhaps Kevin Feige can find a place for President Ritson’s story to continue.
It remains to be seen how Ross will be elected President and if Ritson’s response to the Skrull invasion plays any role. Unless their plan is to completely ignore Secret Invasion, Marvel is going to have some storytelling to do.
