The Goddess of Spring Released (1934)
On this day in 1934, The Goddess of Spring was released.
The Silly Symphony was one of Disney’s first attempts at animating a human.
Hold the Pose Released (1950)
On this day in 1950, Hold the Pose was released.
In the cartoon, amateur photographer Goofy attempts to snap a picture of a grizzly bear.
Pete’s Dragon Released (1977)
On this day in 1977, Pete’s Dragon was released.
The film starred Helen Reddy, Mickey Rooney, Red Buttons, Jim Backus, and Jef Conway and told the story of an animated dragon named Elliot who causes havoc in a Maine fishing village.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Opens (1998)
On this day in 1998, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin opened in Magic Kingdom.
The interactive dark ride allows guests to join the Space Rangers and battle the evil emperor Zurg.
Tokyo Disneyland’s Skyway Closes (1998)
Also on this day in 1998, The Skyway closed in Tokyo Disneyland.
The attraction had been operating since the park’s opening day.
Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause Opens (2006)
On this day in 2006, Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause opened in theaters.
The film saw Tim Allen’s Scott Calvin stopping Jack Frost (Martin Short) from taking over the North Pole.
Disney’s The Little Mermaid Begins Preview Performances (2007)
On this day in 2007, Disney’s stage production of The Little Mermaid began preview performances.
The show would open on Broadway on December 6.
A Christmas Carol Premieres (2009)
On this day in 2009, Disney’s A Christmas Carol premieres.
On hand for the festivities were the film’s stars including Jim Carrey, Bob Hoskins, and Colin Firth.
Thor: Ragnarok Released (2017)
On this day in 2017, Thor: Ragnarok was released.
The third installment in the Thor franchise, Ragnarok saw the God of Thunder attempt to stop his sister Hela from destroying Asgard.
Encanto Premieres (2021)
Finally, on this day in 2021, Encanto premiered at the El Capitan Theatre.
The animated coming-of-age film tells the story of Mirabel Madrigal, a young girl who is frustrated by being the only member of her family without magical powers.
