Marvel Will Announce the ‘Fantastic Four’ Cast When the Actors Strike Ends
One of the biggest questions surrounding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is who will portray the Fantastic Four.
Armed with the knowledge that the First Family of Marvel will be joining the MCU, fan speculation over who will play Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, Sue Storm, and Johnny Storm has run rampant online.
While big-name stars like Adam Driver, John Krasinski, and Maggie Robert have been thrown around as possible stars, no official casting decisions have been made.
An Announcement is Coming
According to director Matt Shakman, however, fans won’t have to wait much longer.
Shakman told Collider that the Fantastic Four cast will be announced once the actors’ strike is over, and that production on the film will begin next year.
“Yes, we are definitely gonna go in front of cameras next year,” he explained. “Probably the spring. [It will shoot in] London. Pinewood,” he said.
The Fantastic Four Reboot Will Be “Unlike Anything” We’ve Seen Before
While Shaman was unable to get into the specifics of the film’s plot, he did tease that the film would be “unlike anything” fans have seen before.
“It’s different in so many ways,” Shakman said. “I wish I could be specific. I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material. I wish I could say more. I would love to, but I can’t. But I think it’s going to be unlike anything you’ve seen before, and certainly unlike anything at Marvel that you’ve seen before.”
Fantastic Four is currently scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025. It is unclear at this time if the Hollywood writer strikes have affected that target.
