‘The Marvels’ Secures China Release Date
The next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will hit theaters on November 10, when The Marvels officially arrives.
A sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel, the film will see Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau team up to start the latest intergalactic threat.
In a year when Marvel has seen uneven results at the box office, The Marvels will have its work cut out for it in order to match Captain Marvel‘s $1 billion return.
‘The Marvels’ Is Coming to China
Bolstering The Marvels box office prospects will be the fact that Disney has secured a China release for the film, also on November 10. The day-and-date release in North America is a major boon for the film, which will be the first tentpole film released in the market since Oppenheimer on August 30.
Disney is pulling out all the stops to promote The Marvels in China. The film will be promoted at Shanghai’s Bund Finance Center during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day/Golden Week holidays from September 29 to October 6.
Captain Marvel, which also secured a release in China, managed to gross $154 million in that market.
Box Office Prospects Are Looking Up
The securing of a China release date is just the latest good news for The Marvels. As its release nears, the film’s office prospects continue to be bolstered.
Last month, the delay of Dune: Part Two opened up Imax theaters to The Marvels. Had Dune not been delayed, the MCU film would have been shut out of the specialty theaters. In that case, it is unlikely that The Marvels would be able to reach the highs of Captain Marvel.
Between its China release date, and access to Imax theaters, the future looks bright for The Marvels.
The Marvels will hit theaters in North America and China on November 10.
