After Years in Limbo ‘Moonlighting’ Finds a Home on Hulu
After years of not having a home on streaming, Moonlighting has finally found a home.
The groundbreaking dramedy starring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepard as bickering private detectives will be coming to Hulu on October 10.

According to the streamer, each episode of the series has been remastered in high definition from the original film source. The show will also retain its Grammy-nominated theme song by Al Jarreau.
‘Moonlighting’ Has Been Stuck in Limbo
For those who don’t remember, Moonlighting starred Willis and Shepard as private detectives David Addison and Maddie Hayes. The show is perhaps best remembered for its trailblazing mix of comedy and drama, along with elaborate fantasy sequences.

Moonlighting ran on ABC from 1985 until 1989 and has been fondly remembered by fans ever since.
Despite its popularity, however, Moonlighting has previously not been available on any streaming service due to the complicated music licensing entangled with the show.

A Long Road to Streaming
In April 2022, series creator Glen Gordon Caron told The Wrap that Disney executives told him, “The big problem… is the show is just larded with music. None of those rights have been sewn up,” and the studio believes “it would be cost prohibitive to go get them now.”
Six months later, however, Carson announced that “the business of getting all five seasons of Moonlighting starring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd ready for streaming” had begun.

Now, after years of waiting, the Blue Moon Detective Agency will once again open its doors, and Moonlighting will have a home on streaming.
All five seasons of Moonlighting will debut on Hulu on October 10. I for one, can’t wait!
