Disney Gives An Inside Look at Flamingo Crossings Village Complex
Ever since the opening of the Flamingo Crossings Village complex, the Disney College Program (DCP) has become an even better experience.
According to Betsy Boston, the director for Disney Programs and Experiences, the new 2,614-unit apartment neighborhoods for DCP Cast Members are great for more connectivity and networking.

“From an experience standpoint, having something like this, we’re creating a sense of community where people can live here, work here, and do a learning component,” Boston said. “To have something like that is a game changer for our program and internships in general.”
The Disney College Program Remains Popular
The east and west communities opened in 2021, just as the Disney College Program was restarting following the COVID-19 pandemic. Each community has a capacity for 5,000 residents spread among two and four-bedroom units.

According to Boston, Disney College Program Cast Members have been thrilled with the new residences.
“The alumni are passionate about it. They think it is fantastic that a program that has changed their lives has grown like this with a dedicated environment. For the participants now, many love it. Many are going to school, they are working, they are meeting people from around the world and then they can live in a community like this where they can have quiet and personal time, but also social time as well.”

Lessons Learned From the DCP
The Disney College Program has now been in place for more than 40 years. As one of Disney’s flagship internship programs, the DCP has taught Disney numerous lessons.

“What we have learned is that it’s about the three-legged stool: It’s living, learning and earning. People come here and put their life on pause for a year to come work and learn about our company, so it’s really important we show that dedication to them — the personal and professional development, making sure they have an experience they can’t have somewhere else.
“Internships in general are growing into much more than a work experience; it’s an overall immersive professional and personal experience — [it’s] the intimate relationship on this internship that these potential future candidates can build with our company, as big as it is, and the exposure they get. Some people think about Disney and they think about the films, the parks or the cruise line, it’s what you’re passionate about.”

The Disney College Program is one of the bedrocks of Walt Disney World. It’s great to see Disney investing in its Cast Members and making the Disney experience even more magical.
