Photos: Magic Kingdom Remembers 9/11
Good morning MickeyBlog. It is a beautiful but somber day as our MickeyBlog reporting team heads to Walt Disney World this morning.
Everyone remembers where they were on 9/11 and today, is a day we all pause, reflect, and remember.
The Magic Kingdom also pays respect to those that lost their lives during the attack on the World Trade Center.
In honor of 9/11, Magic Kingdom is flying their flags at half mast.
We Remember…
While surrounded by magic, lightheartedness, and whimsy, Town Square was a place of quiet reflection this morning.
You can see many of the guests in the park are quietly observing and remembering this very somber day in American history.
9/11, also called “Patriot Day” serves as a day of remembrance, and all flags are directed to be lowered to half-staff for the entire day.
The flag in Town Square is the same location where the Flag Retreat ceremony occurs every night at 5pm.
Guests can observe, recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and hear the trumpet fanfare in this daily tradition at Magic Kingdom.
As “The Star-Spangled Banner” plays, the simple ceremony is a tribute to the veterans for their service, sacrifice and dedication to protecting our country.
Town Square and the American Flag serves as a quiet place to honor and remember those who have served and those we have lost.
