A New ‘Goosebumps’ Series Is Coming to Disney+ This October
With Halloween just around the corner, Disney announced that on Friday, October 13th, a new Goosebumps series will premiere on both Disney+ and Hulu.
The new chilling series is based on the popular R.L. Stein Scholastic book series of the same name, and developed by Disney Branded Television and Sony Pictures.
Bringing Goosebumps To The Small Screen
If, like me, you grew up in the 1990s, you know just how popular the Goosebumps series was. Since its debut in 1992, the series has continued to thrill and chill readers of all ages.
“R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps franchise is a pop culture phenomenon that holds a special place in the hearts of people of all ages,” says Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television. “We are delighted to bring this spooky new series to audiences everywhere in a big way on Disney+ and Hulu, which we hope will not only captivate new audiences with its elevated thrills and chills, but also lifelong fans nostalgic for the stories that are a staple of their generation.”
Over the last 31 years, Goosebumps has established itself as one of the bestselling book series of all time. Published by Scholastic, the series has sold more than 400 million books and has been printed in 32 languages.
Taking Inspiration From The Books
The new television series will draw on elements from five of the series’ most popular books including: Say Cheese and Die!, The Haunted Mask, The Cuckoo Clock of Doom, Go Eat Worms!, and Night of the Living Dummy.
The new Goosebumps series will follow a group of five high school students as they embark on a “shadowy and twisted” journey to investigate the tragic passing of a teen named Harold Biddle three decades earlier. Along the way, they will also unearth dark secrets from their parents’ past.
The series will star Justin Long and Rachael Harris, as well as newcomers Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Miles McKenna, Ana Yi Puig, and Will Price.
Where To Watch
In addition to streaming on Disney+ as part of “Hallowstream” and Hulu’s “Huluween” event, Goosebumps will also air on Freeform as part of the station’s “31 Nights of Halloween” event.
We are now less than two months away from Halloween, and I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate than with Goosebumps.
Goosebumps will stream on Disney+ and Hulu on October 13.
