What Are the Grossest Things You’ve Seen at a Disney Theme Park?
A recent social media post has gone viral due to its all-too-relatable subject matter.
Countless posters chimed in with their thoughts on a mortifying topic.
What are the grossest things you’ve ever seen at a Disney theme park?
Let’s talk about a few that others have mentioned and the worst ones I’ve noticed during hundreds of park visits.
“Grubby Little Germ Monsters”
I spent part of my weekend playing with the newest member of my family, a gorgeous 8-month-old niece named Elora.
At the time, my family joked about how all children are grubby little germ monsters.
We “enjoyed” a live demonstration when their six-year-old son tried to eat off the plates of strangers…and I mean the garbage plates.
One person’s unfinished meal is a child’s ill-gotten gains.
You know that gleeful look when kids do something they know they’re not supposed to do.
Someone makes that face at a Disney theme park hundreds of times an hour. That’s why so many of these stories involve children.
For instance, several of the stories involve children eating, drinking, and licking things that shouldn’t.
For example, a social media poster recounts the following:
“Yeah I’d say the grossest I’ve seen was back in probably 2018/2019 we were in line for Incredicoaster and there was a small child a bit in front of us who was licking the railing between lines.”
The person adds that they’ve used hand sanitizer at Disney ever since then, which is notable since this rail-licking occurred before the pandemic.
Several of the statements involved kids doing something like this. Another mentioned that a sibling had licked the water straight off a stranger’s poncho!
Somehow, that’s not the grossest one. Here’s someone talking about their sister:
“When my sister was 1 or 2, she put her hands on a toilet seat in the Alice in Wonderland bathrooms. My mom immediately told her don’t do that, it’s dirty. So what does my toddler sister do? LICK BOTH HER HANDS. I think about this every time I pass those bathrooms.”
We will ALL think about that toddler sister doing this every time now.
Kids Eat the Darnedest Things
Also, multiple commenters mentioned kids picking up food from the ground.
Apparently, Disney train tracks are a great place to discover illicit popcorn. But anything on the ground is fair game to a child.
I’m not merely talking about food, either. Some people pointed out instances when a child drank water from a place where they really, really shouldn’t.
Boat rides like It’s a Small World, Splash Mountain, and even various park fountains technically allow kids to quench their thirst. And it’s horrible!
You’ll understand why in the next section if the answer isn’t readily apparent.
What I can say with confidence is that kids frequently go dumpster diving at Disney, hoping to find something delicious.
Whether the trash can holds something edible is up for debate. Even if the item is technically food, it’s trash food now and shouldn’t go in a stranger’s mouth.

Here are a few examples that could ruin your appetite:
“When my daughter was 4 years old she ate popcorn off the ground while we were in line for the Jungle Cruise. It was not our popcorn. I don’t know how long that popcorn had been on the ground, how many people had stepped on it, if animals tried to eat it first.”
“A parent watched as their child drank someone else’s root beer, only that beer wasn’t root.”
“A kid put a turkey leg in its diaper, put it back in their mouth and ate the whole (expletive) thing while their parents watched.”
Sometimes, the food isn’t even food anymore, but a kid can find annoying things to do with it:
“One time in the Toy Story Mania line, I saw a kid holding a turkey leg bone that was completely picked clean. He was going back and forth between banging it along the railings and shoving it into his pocket.”
The only people who should use a turkey leg bone to make noise are members of Blue Man Group.
Parenting Is Hard
I think most people reading this know the feeling where it’s been just you and a child all day. You’re tired, you’re desperate, and you’re not thinking straight.
Many of the stories involve parents and guardians who are past caring about social norms. They’re over it and will do whatever it takes to survive the day.
One person references the “baby bidet,” a joke you may have heard about theme park water fountains.
Sometimes, a desperate parent faces the dire consequences of a child’s bowels. It’s not pretty for them and even worse for you if you’re nearby.
Sadly, plenty of Disney fans are acutely aware of this tragedy, having firsthand knowledge of the events.
Yes, friends, plenty of the grossest things people have seen at Disney parks involve children with and sometimes even without diapers.
When a child needs *ahem* cleansing, a parent often requires running water to address the messy problem at hand.
My knowledge of this fact explains why I’m one of the few Disney analysts who doesn’t say, “You can always fill your cup for free at a Disney water fountain!”
Anyone telling you that hates you and wishes illness upon you. That’s just the reality of the situation.
No matter how dutifully cast members clean all parts of Disney water parks, a lurking horror remains.
Someone – hopefully, a child – has peed or pooped there. It’s just math.
With tens of thousands of guests visiting the parks each day, that’s a multiple of several more instances where someone needs to use the restroom.
Sometimes, a restroom isn’t handy, and that’s when the grossest things at Disney happen.

I’ll now cut and paste a few comments from various social media posts over the years.
All of them involve bowel movements. Sadly, not all of them involve children, though.
Anyway, here are a few horror stories. I’ve cleaned up the wording for your sanity:
“We waited in line for Pirates of the Caribbean for an hour. After 45 minutes, a kid told their mom they needed to go.
We were too close to the front for the mom to quit. She took the kid to the corner and had him pee right there in front of everyone. She didn’t bother to clean up or even tell a cast member.”
“One time on Big Thunder Mountain (Railroad), I smelled something really nasty. The man in front of me had poop literally all over the back of his pant leg. How does this even happen?”
“On Mickey’s Toontown’s reopening weekend, some kid went down the slide with the colorful rollers and pooped all over it. Left a nice skid mark at the bottom and little poop traces on each roller.”
Okay, It’s Safe Now
I could keep going, but you accept the point if you read the previous section. If you didn’t, just trust me here.
Gross things are happening at Walt Disney World each day.
I cannot even tell you the number of times I’ve noticed someone with stained pants standing in front of me.
I also haven’t touched on the so-called Protein Spill, which is the vomit portion of this story.
When guests ride a ton of thrill rides, their stomachs sometimes revolt. It’s…not pretty.
So, now that you’ve heard a few anecdotes, I have to ask. What are the grossest things you’ve seen at a theme park?
Let us know in the comments. However, I’ll be honest. I will NOT be reading the comments on this one.
People are gross.
