Potential Tropical System Could Impact Florida Next Week
It’s been hurricane season since the beginning of June, but right now, and it’s about that time of year when we see things ramp up a little bit in terms of storm activity. Florida is no stranger to the storms, and there’s a new potential threat that could impact the state next week.
Let’s break it down.
Potential Tropical System to Impact Florida
An area of storms in the Caribbean Sea could turn into a tropical system as early as this Sunday, according to CNN. They say the system could impact Florida and the Gulf of Mexico coast early next week.
The National Hurricane Center is watching the weather near Central America, which is expected to move north this weekend. It should move through the Caribbean Sea toward the Gulf of Mexico.
If this forms into a tropical system, it will be the Atlantic Ocean’s 10th tropical system of 2023.
A tropical depression or named storm could develop late this weekend or early next week if the storms become one big mass with a defined center.
The NHC said there’s a high chance of this happening within the next week.
It’s still too early to know the exact direction the potential storm could take, but Florida’s coast should remain aware. If it were to travel inland across Florida at all, Disney World could be impacted by the weather.
Disney World has shut down for a day or two due to hurricanes in the past, but it usually takes a pretty strong storm along with a track that shows the hurricane hitting Central Florida. Once a storm hits land, it usually decreases its strength.
We will keep you updated with what happens with the storm development, so stay tuned for more.
