Star Wars Fans Get ‘Bad Batch’ Update Amidst Strikes and Shutdowns
When news broke that Lucasfilm’s Industrial Lights & Magic Singapore studio was shutting down, many fans wondered if the loss would adversely affect the upcoming Season 3 of The Bad Batch.
After all, ILM Singapore was instrumental in creating the show’s predecessor The Clone Wars. Additionally, ILM Singapore was well known for its work in animation. Well, as it turns out those fears were unfounded.
‘The Bad Batch’ Season 3
Season 3 of The Batch Batch is scheduled to be released at some point in 2024. The third season will serve as the final installment for the show, hopefully wrapping up Clone Force 99’s story.
While not a lot of information has been released about the upcoming series, a teaser shown at Star Wars Celebration 2023 indicated that Emperor Palpatine would be returning, and Crosshair and Omega were shown imprisoned together.
Production Moving Ahead As Scheduled
Joel Aron, The Bad Batch’s director of cinematography took to X (the former Twitter) to update fans on the show’s progress. Reassuringly, Aron revealed that the show would not be affected by the closing of the Singapore Studio.
“Just to be clear, we’re not affected by this closure. LAL is not in Singapore 🙂 we’ve always been at either the ranch or where we are now in SF (or working from home!). We are still ferociously busy working with Cgcg to bring you all s3 of ‘The Bad Batch’ and ‘Tales of the Jedi,'” he wrote.
Not Affected By Strikes
Additionally, because the animated nature of the series, The Bad Batch will likely not be affected by the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Animated shows often deal with separate guilds and unions.
So, baring any unforeseen setback, fans will be able to catch up with Clone Force 99 next year! I for one, can’t wait!
