‘Elemental’ Has Become The Highest Grossing Pixar Film Ever In South Korea
While Elemental may not have been the smash hit that Pixar was hoping for, the film has proven to be far from the flop that many had written the film off as.
After a slow start, the film has now crossed the $300 million mark, and will out-gross previous Pixar releases such as The Good Dinosaur and 2022’s Lightyear.
‘Elemental’ Finds Its Audience
Elemental’s run at the box office has been propelled by strong audience reviews and word of mouth. The film, which received average reviews from critics, has a CinemaScore rating of “A”. ”
While Elemental has been able to find an audience at both the domestic and international box office, the film has proven to be particularly popular in South Korea.
There, the film topped the box office in three of the first four weeks it was in theaters. It managed to amass $25.8 million in the 26 days after its release.
That number was good enough to make the film the fifth highest-gross film release of the year. Elemental was not done yet, however.
South Korea’s Highest-Grossing Pixar Film
This week, Elemental kept its momentum going at the South Korean box office and became the highest-grossing Pixar film ever in the country.
Reacting to the news, the film’s director Peter Sohn tweeted “I think my heart burst with joy”.

While Elemental will still struggle to make money for Pixar, the studio can take solace in the fact that the film has finally found its audience.
