‘Tron: Ares’ Adds Cameron Monaghan & Sarah Desjardins To Its Cast
The cast of Tron: Ares is rounding into form, as Deadline reports that Cameron Monaghan and Sarah Desjardins are gearing up to enter the Grid.
Monaghan is best known for playing Liam Gallagher on Shameless and Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska on Gotham.
If you are a Star Wars fan like me, however, you will perhaps best recognize Monaghan as the voice and likeness of Cal Kestis in the Star Wars Jedi video game series.
Sarah Desjardins, on the other hand, was one of the stars of the Netflix hit The Night Agent. Additionally, she is currently appearing in a recurring role on Yellow Jackets.
A Star-Studded Cast
The third installment in the Tron franchise, Tron: Ares will star Jared Leto as a sentient program that travels from the digital world into the human world.
In the film, Monaghan and Desjardins will be joined by Evan Peters, Greta Lee, and Jodie Turner-Smith.
Tron: Ares was set to begin production in August under the eye of director Joachim Ronning. Those plans may change, however, based on the ongoing WGA strike and the impending SAG-AFTRA strike.
Will Former ‘Tron’ Stars Return?
While Tron: Ares is being marketed as a sequel to Tron: Legacy, it is unclear if any of the franchise’s previous stars including Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, or Bruce Boxleitner will be returning.
In 2015, Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski was set to direct a third Tron film. That version would have had Wilde and Hedlund reprising their roles. That film was ultimately canceled.
