Good News, Everyone! The New Futurama Trailer Is Here!
After somehow surviving its most recent cancellation, Futurama is ready to return for its 11th season, and we’ve got the full trailer!
Futurama: The Show Nobody Can Kill
In 2019, The Walt Disney Company acquired Futurama as part of its Fox acquisition.
Then, during the pandemic, Disney announced that it would revive the series to air new episodes on Hulu.

This remarkable turn of events isn’t even a first for the series, which has faced two previous cancellations and aired four different series finales!
First, the Fox Network famously canceled the show after years of mistreatment.
Fox broadcasted Futurama on the same night and time as some late NFL games. So, fans never knew when new episodes would air.
In some instances, Fox would pull a new episode minutes before its scheduled airing.
This move made sense, as football has always dominated television ratings.
However, the byproduct of the erratic episode air dates was that Futurama’s ratings suffered.
So, when Fox canceled the series, nobody was shocked, although many fans expressed outrage.
Remarkably, all of this happened 20 years ago. Futurama’s pilot aired in November 1999, and the “final” episode ran in August 2003.
Five years later, Futurama returned in a new form. The series produced four direct-to-DVD films.
Then, Comedy Central edited each of the DVD movies into a series of four smaller segments each, thereby cobbling together 16 new episodes of Futurama.
This strategy proved successful enough that Comedy Central agreed to greenlight two new seasons of Futurama.
Later, the cable channel added two more seasons, ultimately bringing Futurama’s total to ten seasons aired over 12 years.
Futurama Returns from the Dead…Again
Then, Futurama fans — and I’m proudly one of them — waited from 2011 until now for new stories.

Thankfully, the wait is almost over, as Futurama debuts on Hulu on July 24th.
This new clip shows what we can expect from the new season, which will air in two parts consisting of ten episodes each.
Finally, Deadline lists the logline for this season as:
“After a brief ten-year hiatus, Futurama has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact. The ten all-new episodes of season eleven have something for everyone.
“New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries – including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles.
Meanwhile, there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.”
