Marvel Will Not Present At This Year’s Comic Con
For the first time in years, Marvel Studios won’t hold its customary panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con in 2023.
While Marvel will still have a presence on the show floor, the usual grandiose presentation by studio head Kevin Feige which traditionally gives fans a sneak peek of what to come will not be happening.
The Reason For Marvel’s Absence
According to reports, Marvel’s absence is due to the ongoing writers strike, which shut down many of the studios ongoing productions.
Among the in-development projects to be paused due to the strike are “Captain America: Brave New World”, “Blade”, and “Daredevil: Born Again”.
Marvel’s absence from Comic Con will be especially glaring this year, as the studio has had bumpy 12 moths. At the box office, “Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” failed to launch Marvel’s 5 in the way that the studio hoped.
Additionally, Marvel star Jonathan Majors, who was set to reprise his role as Kang the Conqueror in multiple projects was arrested and charged with numerous domestic violence charges.
Subsequently, Tenoch Huerta, who portrayed Namor in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, has been charged with sexual assault- an allegation he denies.
New Productions On The Way
While the writers strike has delayed most of Marvel’s productions, the studio is not empty handed. “Secret Invasion” recently landed on Disney+, while Season 2 of “Loki” is expected to premiere in August.
Until the strike ends, and production returns to normal, it sounds like Marvel may be quite for the for foreseeable future.
