Capture the Holiday Magic With These Disney PhotoPass Tips
We’re celebrating halfway to the Holiday Season and it wouldn’t be the holidays at Disney without capturing the magic with Disney PhotoPass. With that in mind, Plan Disney are sharing seven of their top tips for getting the most out of your Disney holiday photos and we’re excited to pass the knowledge on to you!
1. Find a Festive Disney Backdrop
If you’ll be visiting Disney theme parks for the holidays in 2023, be sure to strike a pose in front of some of the incredible festive backdrops. Everywhere you look you’ll find garlands, tinsel, wreaths, ornaments, Christmas Trees, gingerbread men, and sometimes even SNOW! From theme park entrances to resort lobbies there are some incredible spaces where you can capture that perfect holiday shot!
Some of our favorite spots to go for holiday photos includes:
- Main Street USA – Magic Kingdom
- Toy Story Land – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- it’s a small world Holiday – Disneyland
You can even get your photo taken with Santa at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World and the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail at Disney California Adventure.
Also, if you’re lucky enough to be sailing on a Very Merrytime Cruise with Disney Cruise Line, you’ll be able to see Mickey and Co dressed up in their Christmas-themed beachwear at Disney’s Private Island Castaway Cay!
2. Get Candid
Though you can have Disney PhotoPass photographers set up the perfect family shot, sometimes those candid and spontaneous holiday photos are the best! The ride photos that you get with a Disney MemoryMaker package are perfect. They’ll capture the thrills of you experiencing a Disney theme park attraction for the first time!
3. Make it an Event
Whether it’s a ticket to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or dinner at Minnie’s Seasonal Dine at Hollywood & Vine in Hollywood Studios, prebook a special holiday activity. Not only will you be completely immersed in the magic of Disney over the holidays but these pixie-dusted moments also provide some incredible photo opportunities!
4. Make it a Disney Family Tradition
Get a jump start on your Christmas cards for next year by finding one spot at the theme parks to capture a magical holiday moment with your family. Whether it’s posing under the massive Christmas tree at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel or the live-size gingerbread creation at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa there are some pretty incredible locations and vistas just waiting for you to snap the perfect holiday photos. Best of all, anytime there’s a beautiful view chances are there’s a Disney PhotoPass photographer nearby ready to add a professional touch to your holiday snaps!
5. It’s All About the Props
You can prep for the perfect holiday snap by wearing your favorite ugly Christmas sweater, picking up a holiday pair of Mouse Ears, and more! Also, be sure to ask your Disney PhotoPass photographers if they have any special holiday props. Whether it’s a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party sign or a giant candy cane, these extra elements can add a lovely touch to your holiday snaps!
For those lucky enough to be visiting Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Hawaii, coordinate your family photo shoot with a sunset for the perfect shot!
6. Let Your Personality Shine
We’ve covered backdrops, props, scenery, and more, but nothing makes a photo more meaningful than one that really captures your personality! Star Wars fan? Head over to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Capture a shot of your family members crossing the finish line at a runDisney race, and coordinate your Christmas looks before heading out to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
For those that like to send out New Year cards another awesome spot is the beach at Disney’s Castaway Cay. Standing surrounded by holiday decor with the crisp blue water behind you makes for a perfect memory that you’ll want to share with friends and family!
7. Utilize Disney PhotoPass Experts
Whether you’re at Disneyland, Disney World, Aulani, or on a Disney Cruise, chances are there’s a Disney PhotoPass photographer nearby. Make them a part of the process. Not only do they know how to get you to pose for the perfect family photo but they can also add fun elements like props or Magic Shots, where special touches are added to your photos when it’s being processed. You never know who or what might show up when you go to download your holiday photos!
