May 31st was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the release opening of a new attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the opening of a new Walt Disney World resort, and the closure of a Magic Kingdom classic. So, let’s get started!

Buddy Baker Records Adventure Thru Inner Space Music
On this day in 1967, Buddy Baker and 45 musicians recorded 47 different pieces of music that Baker had scored for Disenyland’s Adventure Thru Inner Space.

The attraction opened to guests in August 1967.
Disney Announces Big Thunder Ranch (1985)
On this day in 1985, Disney announced a concept for an expansion of Disneyland’s Frontierland.
Called Big Thunder Ranch, the expansion was to feature an outdoor petting zoo, a walk-through log cabin, and a variety of scenery meant to create the atmosphere of a Western ranch.
The Wildhorse Saloon Opens (1998)
On this day in 1998, The Wildhorse Saloon opened at Downtown Disney’s Pleasure Island.

The new saloon opened in the former location of the Fireworks Factory restaurant.
Toy Story Midway Mania Opens (2008)
On this day in 2008, Toy Story Midway Mania opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The interactive dark ride has guests wear 3-D glasses to play virtual Toy Story-themed carnival games.
Lee DeWyze Celebrated At Disney’s Hollywood Studios (2010)
On this day in 2010, a parade was held for Lee DeWyze at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The recent American Idol champion also met guests outside of The American Idol Experience.
Snow White’s Scary Adventures Closes (2012)
On this day in 2012, Snow White’s Scary Adventures closed.
The opening-day Magic Kingdom dark ride was replaced by Princess Fairytale Hall- a princess-themed meet-and-greet.
The Art of Animation Opens (2012)
Also on this day in 2012, the first phase of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort opened.
At this time, the rooms based on the Pixar film Finding Nemo, including 320 family suites, were available.
Chef Mickey’s Offers Brunch (2015)
On this day in 2015, Chef Mickey’s began to offer brunch at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
The fan-favorite restaurant, where guests can meet their favorite Disney characters, had previously only served lunch and dinner.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Officially Opens (2019)
On this day in 2019, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge officially opened to the public in Disneyland.
Millennium Falcon
The new land debuted two new attractions Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
Cinderella Castle
