Harrison Ford Finally Gets His Due At Cannes
Harrison Ford is finally hanging up his fedora, but that doesn’t mean the public has to be happy about it.
On Thursday Night Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where Ford was cheered and celebrated throughout the evening.

The fifth and perhaps final chapter of the Indiana Jones series is something of a crowning achievement for Ford, who has long cemented himself as one of the great stars in movie history.
On hand for the premiere, were Disney CEO Bob Iger and Lucasfilm president Katleen Kennedy who jettisoned to the South of France for Ford’s big night.

A Hero’s Welcome
The storied actor arrived on the red carpet, where he was greeted by thousands of fans.
As the night began, Ford was called to the stage where a reel of his greatest film roles was shown. He was then presented with a surprise Palme d’Or by Cannes festival director Thierry Fremaux.

“I’m very moved by this,” Ford said. “They say when you’re about to die, you see your life flash before your eyes, and I just saw my life flash before my eyes. A great part of my life, but not all of my life. My life has been enabled by my lovely wife, who has supported my passion and my dreams, and I’m grateful.”
After thanking his wife, Ford turned his attention to the audience.

“I love you, too. But I’ve got a movie you ought to see. It’s right behind me. So let me get out of the way, and thank you again for this great honor.”
One Last Adventure
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will mark Harrison Ford’s final time playing the iconic archeologist. Although Disney has previously talked about creating an Indiana Jones series for Disney+, Ford will not be involved.
“This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character,” Ford told Total Film magazine before Cannes. “I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film.”
