GMA Shares A Few More Details Of Cinderella Castle’s Upcoming Makeover
Here at MickeyBlog, we shared some exciting details this week about the incredible gold makeover coming to Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom in honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. The timing of this announcement is perfect as Disney fans worldwide are also celebrating the 70th anniversary of the beloved Disney animated classic Cinderella.
This morning, Good Morning America share a few additional details that we want to pass on to you!
When originally building Cinderella Castle, Imagineers drew inspiration from French Medieval castles to pay homage to the setting of one of Disney’s most-loved fairy tales. Charles Perrault who published a book of fairy tales (some over 300 years old) featured many famous palaces used as source material of the construction of Cinderella’s iconic castle. According to Good Morning America, this included the original story of Cinderella called The Glass Slipper.
Visitors to the castle at the Magic Kingdom will notice that it is currently painted in grey, blue and gold which is a composite of famous French castles including Fontainebleau and Versailles.
Once made over, the 189-foot tall castle along with its 18 shimmering towers, and even 13 gargoyles will be given a new golden hue that is sure to glisten!
As you can see by taking a closer look at the pictures above, the towers, spires, gatehouse and more will be given a gold trim. This regal enhancement will be made throughout the summer months meaning guests may encounter some scaffolding. However, Disney is currently noting that the changes are expected to have little to no impact on stage shows or attraction.
