Walt Disney World Extends Park Hours Ahead of First Summer Holiday
Over the past couple of weeks, Walt Disney World Resort guests got quite a treat with some of the lowest wait times that we have seen in months.
As Memorial Day weekend approaches though, it looks like at least three of theme parks are preparing for an uptick in crowds, but that also means extended theme park hours of operation.
Extended Magic Kingdom Evening Hours on the Horizon
Though this weekend remains unchanged, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will all start extended their hours beginning next weekend.
Magic Kingdom specifically will be open one hour later than previously posted on May 22nd, May 25th through 27th, and May 30th through the 31st. As of now, the extra hour also applies on June 2nd. On each of those days, the posted operating hours are now 9 a.m. until 11 p.m.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Adds Evening Time Too
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests will have a bit more time to save the galaxy and to visit Andy’s backyard on select nights.
From May 21st through May 25th, the park will be open until 9:30 p.m. rather than 9 p.m. The same 30 minutes was also added to park hours from May 29th through June 3rd with posted times now from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.
On May 26th through May 28th, guests will get an extra hour in the park. Now, the park hours will be 8:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Extra Morning Time at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
With the animal activity always factored in, Disney’s Animal Kingdom added hours to their opening time as well as to some closing times. On May 21st and May 26th, the park will open an hour early (now at 8 a.m.).
On May 27th, the park will not only open an hour earlier than expected but also close an hour later than previously posted. The official park operating hours that day are now 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
As always, onsite guests also can begin riding select attractions 30 minutes prior to these posted times. With the heat cranking up, the extra time will thankfully allow a bit more flexiblity for those mid-afternoon breaks back at the resort pools too. What a treat!
