Welcome back to our continuing trip through Disney history’s magical history. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- May 10.
May 10th featured the release of a Pluto cartoon, an honor for a Disney Legend, and an important day for the Disney family. So, let’s get started!
In Dutch Released (1946)
On this day in 1946, the Pluto cartoon In Dutch was released.

In the cartoon, Pluto plays a milk dog in the Netherlands who falls in love with a beautiful dachshund.
Sharon Disney Gets Married
On this day in 1959, Sharon Disney married Robert B. Brown.

The wedding was held at the Presbyterian church in Pacific Palisades, California, and was followed by a reception in Beverly Hills.
Ollie Johnston Honored
On this day in 2005, a ceremony took place in Disneyland to honor animator Ollie Johnston.

The Disney Legend, and one of Walt’s Nine Old Men, Johnston was presented with a plaque from the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society.
Tarzan Opens on Broadway (2006)
On this day in 2006, Disney’s Tarzan officially opened on Broadway.

Based on the hit animated film the show opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. In attendance was Danton Burroughs, grandson of Edgar Rice Burroughs.
MicroAdvenure! Closes (2010)
On this day in 2010, MicroAdventure! closed in Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland.

A version of Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, the attraction had been running since 1997.
Alice Davis Honored (2012)
On this day in 2012, Alice Davis was honored with a window at Disneyland.

The Disney Legend designed costumes for many of Disney’s most famous attractions, including “it’s a small world” and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Disney Family Singalong: Volume 2 Airs (2020)
Finally, on this day in 2020, Disney Family Singalong: Volume 2 aired on ABC.
The special included performances from Halsey, Katy Perry, Lele Palmer, and Julianne Hough.
