This Pineapple Upside-Down Cone is a Refreshing Taste of Summer at Typhoon Lagoon
Does anything say “summer fun” as much as a refreshing ice-cream treat at a Walt Disney World waterpark?
I don’t think so!
Today, our MickeyBlog reporters are over at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, soaking up the sun, the surf, and the sweet, sweet treats.
In celebration of summer, we thought we’d review this tropical new dessert from one of the park’s snack booths – and boy, is it a fruity one!
The Happy Landings location is always a great place to visit for a frozen treat between slides and surfs, but their sweet menu has gotten so much more exciting thanks to the addition of the new Pineapple Upside-Down Cone.
Inspired by a classic pineapple upside-down cake, this treat mixes delicious dessert with cool ice-cream, to create a finished product you’re not going to want to miss. Eager to hear more about it? Then read on!
First of all, we just have to take a moment to admire how cute this treat is. Doesn’t it look summer ready?
In fact, this might be one of the rare occasions where the dessert looks even tastier in “real life” than it does from the menu card photo!
As the menu reads, this treat consists of Dole Whip Pineapple and Vanilla soft-serve ice cream, mixed with lashings of caramel sauce and piled high on top of a vanilla sponge cake. As well as this, chunks of cherry and caramelized pineapple add to the delicious sundae of sweetness, with a chocolate-dipped wafer cone perched on top of the pile to give it that “Upside-Down” aesthetic.
With all of this served in a clear pot, it’s hard not to admire those layers of sweet, fruity, frozen deliciousness!
It was our MickeyBlogger Kayla who was lucky enough to enjoy this treat, in the most picturesque spot right next to Castaway Creek. In her words, Kayla confirmed that the dessert was “a perfect bite!”
We’re thrilled to report that the ice cream goodness was perfectly proportionate to the layer of sponge cake underneath and, in true “Upside-Down Cake” style, there was even a pineapple ring hidden right at the bottom.
As we know from all our Dole Whip tasting over the years, pineapple and vanilla are two flavors that match together perfectly, and Kayla attested there was plenty of pineapple to enjoy here. The only downside was that the cake did get a little mushy from the melting ice cream, but it’s hardly a complaint when the flavors taste this good!
If you’re looking to try the Pineapple Upside-Down Cone out for yourself next time you’re at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, head on over to Happy Landings. There, the dessert costs $6.49.
Delicious!
If you’re not planning a Typhoon Lagoon trip but still fancy some pineapple tastiness, our MickeyBloggers also reviewed a delicious new sundae offering over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this week, which you can read more about here.
We can expect plenty of tropical flavors to crop up now summer is on its way, and we simply can’t wait!
