Shanghai Disney Resort Officially Identifies 121 Bird Species!
April is Earth Month and all of the Disney theme parks are celebrating in fun and unique ways.
Disney Parks Blog is inspiring the Disney audience with stories of how the company is taking action to support a healthier planet and wildlife.
One amazing example of positive environmental impact is at Shanghai Disney Resort’s Wishing Star Park.
This awesome theme park also serves as a popular birdwatching location where the 121st bird species has recently been identified!
Wishing Star Park
Wishing Star Park is the beautiful backdrop in Shanghai Disney that serves as a birdwatching hot spot.
The lush urban park features a 100-acre lake, scenic greenery, and beautiful gardens.
The gorgeous park was designed to protect the natural habitats for wildlife, and has successfully created an ecosystem where birds could grow and thrive.
According to Cornell University, more than half of the existing bird species around the world are declining. This thriving park is more important now than ever before.
A Unique Collaboration
Eight years ago, Shanghai Disney Resort partnered with a team of local bird experts and the Disney Conservation team to establish a long-term bird monitoring program.
Nature enthusiasts and bird experts have monitored 121 different species of birds and have identified over 30,000 individual birds.
New Wishing Star Park Bird Watching Map
In honor of Earth Month, a new Wishing Star Park Bird Watching Map has been created for guests.
The new map is available at Wishing Star Park’s east and west entrances and is a great resource helping guests identify various birds.
If you are lucky enough to be visiting Wishing Star Park, check out the new map and see how many birds you can spot!
