Welcome back to our continuing journey though the history of the Walt Disney Company. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- April 23.
April 23rd was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the opening of a Disneyland attraction, a Walt Disney World groundbreaking, and the debut of a Downtown Disney stand. So, lets get going.
Fall Out- Fall In Released (1943)
On this day in 1943, the Donald Duck short Fall Out- Fall In was released.
In the cartoon Donald experiences the army life, with long marches and an uncooperative tent.
Midget Autopia Opens (1957)
On this day in 1957, The Midget Autopia opened in Disneyland.
The third and smallest Autopia attraction in Disneyland, the Midget Autopia was for guests who were too small to ride the other car rides.
Fantasy in the Sky Debuts (1983)
On this day in 1983, Fantasy in the Sky debuted at Tokyo Disneyland.
Groundbreaking Takes Place at Disney’s Grand Floridan Beach Resort (1986)
On this day in 1986, a groundbreaking ceremony took place for Disney’s Grand Floridian Beach Resort.
The newest Bay Lake resort would eventually open in June 1988.
Walt Disney’s Parade of Dreams Debuts (2005)
On this day in 2005, Disneyland guests got a sneak peek of Walt Disney’s Parade of Dreams.
The all-new parade featured classic Disney stories and characters. The procession was created for Disneyland’s 50th anniversary.
Dockside Margaritas Opens (2015)
Finally, on this day in 2015, Dockside Margaritas opened at Downtown Disney.
The waterfront margarita bar allows guests to enjoy live music while sitting in the open-air.
