EPCOT Continues Removal of Harmonious Barges from World Showcase Lagoon
If you’ve been following along with us here at MickeyBlog you’ll know that EPCOT held it’s last performance of the nighttime show Harmonious earlier this month. Though the show proved popular with visitors, the large barges required to be in the World Showcase Lagoon for the show proved unpopular with Disney fans.
With EPCOT moving to it’s more traditional nighttime show EPCOT Forever that means the Harmonious barges are now being removed from the lake in the center of the World Showcase.
Over the last week, the barges have been slowly dismantled and removed from the waterway.
Our MickeyBloggers are at EPCOT this morning where crews are hard at work on breaking down the Harmonious structures.
The seem to be taking it one barge at a time at the moment.
As you can see the large towering structure in the middle still remains.
However, it too will come down eventually.
Harmonious was a massive production introduced for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration which ended on March 31, 2023.
Five floating platforms were used in the production.
The crescent-shaped barges below are actually the double-sided LED panels which measured 88 feet long!
The production also used a 5-story water curtain which Disney animated scenes were projected on to.
Though we loved Harmonious, we can agree that the barges did look a bit unsightly during the day.
They did obstruct sightlines for those dining or strolling along the waterfront.
We will continue to follow the process of the Harmonious barges being cleared from the World Showcase Lagoon so keep checking back with us!
Disney has yet to announce what the new evening show in development at EPCOT will be.
