Welcome back to our continuing trip through Disney’s past. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- April 9. And Happy Easter!
April 9th was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the dedication of a Disneyland attraction, a new EPCOT store, and the end of a Tokyo Disney parade.
Snow White Wishing Well and Grotto Dedicated (1961)
On this day in 1961, Walt Disney dedicated the Snow White Wishing Well and Grotto at Disneyland.
The wishing well allowed guests to make a wish and drop a coin to benefit children’s charities around the world.
Disney Traders Opens in World Showcase (1987)
On this day in 1987, Disney Traders opened in World Showcase.
Located at the front of World Showcase, the shop specializes in EPCOT merchandise.
Space Mountain: Mission 2 Opens (2005)
On this day in 2005, Space Mountain: Mission 2 opened to the public.
The upgraded version of the attraction featured new ride vehicles and a faster launch.
Disney Junior- Live on Stage Closed (2017)
On this day in 2017, Disney Junior- Live on Stage! closed at Disney California Adventure.
The attraction had been open since March 21, 2009.
Happiness is Here Parade Ends (2018)
On this day in 2018, the Happiness is Here Parade was performed for the final time at Tokyo Disney Resort.
The parade first debuted in April 2013 as part of the park’s 30th anniversary.
