Journey Through A Bug’s Land in Disney California Adventure Via Google Maps!
This summer marks two years since Avengers Campus replaced A Bug’s Land in Disney California Adventure. But, did you know that you can still tour the former area via Google Maps?
Google Maps
Disney journalist Scott Gustin recently pointed out this fun fact on Twitter. He shared, “If you view Avengers Campus on Google Maps and drop the marker on the Avengers logo, you’ll get a glimpse of another superhero. Just a little reminder of life before the snap.”
A video shows the process in action. He adds, “This is all 100% real. You can view it yourself. Take a walk around Bugs Land circa August 2017.”
He even offers a direct link so you can experience it for yourself! Pretty cool, right?
A Bug’s Land
I used to love this area of Disney California Adventure Park, particularly for its imaginative design. Guests had a bug’s perspective as they walked through the shaded area, surrounded by giant clovers.
It was like living out the movie, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids! The area was filled with rides best suited for a younger audience, but there was still something magical about it.
Attractions included Flik’s Flyers (re-themed to Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind on Pixar Pier), Francis’ Ladybug Boogie, Tuck and Roll’s Drive ‘Em Buggies (as seen above), and Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train (known for its sweet smells)!
There was also a water play area, which my son especially loved, called Princess Dot Puddle Park, as well as a 3D show, It’s Tough to Be a Bug! Although I thoroughly enjoyed A Bug’s Land, I’ve never been opposed to change at Disneyland.
As Walt so eloquently stated, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.”
As much as change is difficult, it was part of Walt’s vision for the Parks. I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Avengers Campus for the first time, and absolutely loved it!
But, it’s nice to know that for the time being, you can take a step back into the past, and view the former area. So, if you’re interested in reliving the magic of A Bug’s Land in Disney California Adventure, take a tour via Google Maps!
