Josh Gad Teases Live Action “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and the Internet is Here for It
Disney Legend Josh Gad certainly knows how to get Disney fans fired up! He took to Instagram to show the love for a fan-made poster for live action The Hunchback of Notre Dame movie. Fans immediately took this as a sign that the film has been given the greenlight.
There has been murmurings for a while that Josh Gad has been attached to live-action Hunchback so when his post appeared, the internet responded as if it were an official cast reveal. The post, which we share below, shows the logo and a date for the film that says “2025.” Fans also took this to mean that Gad was revealing an official release date for the project.
However, since the initial tease, Gad has gone back in to clarify his reason for posting The Hunchback of Notre Dame logo. “Wow. This spread quickly,” Gad said. He added, “For the record, this is not real. This is a [Fan-Cast]! I was just responding to it. Love that you guys all want this. We do [too]!
Gad continues in his comment, “The script is one of the best I have read and hopefully the powers that be will see this love and let us make this live-action adaptation the original film deserves.”

So though there’s technically no live action Hunchback in the pipeline let alone a release date. However, there is one piece of good news that has come out of all of this. Gad did confirm that there’s a script floating around for the film and that’s it’s finished. This bodes well for the project getting the greenlight.
For the moment we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed that this live-action project sees the light of day. It will obviously depend on audiences’ responses to The Little Mermaid as well as other live action projects already in the pipeline including Hercules and Lilo & Stitch.

As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz were both supposedly thought to be attached to the project. It is also rumored that Gad has interest in the adaptation as a producer and will likely be in the cast, maybe even as Quasimodo.
This is a story that we will continue to follow closely. Readers are encouraged to keep checking back with us for further news and updates.
