REVIEW: Poutine and Mojitos at EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival
Positioned just outside of the Canada pavilion in the EPCOT World Showcase is Refreshment Port, a friendly food station that always puts on a treat for the park’s festivals!
Since today is the first day of the 2023 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, our MickeyBloggers decided to stop by to test out the kitchen’s new dishes released in celebration of the event.
Last year, we felt that the booth didn’t quite hit the mark with their Italian Sausage and Peppers Poutine dish, but we were willing to give it another go for 2023.
As it happens, it turns out this was the right decision, as our MickeyBlog reporters were thoroughly impressed with the dishes they tried today! Keep reading, and see what we ordered…
Let’s start with the main dish – which is still, of course, poutine!
As well as serving up a “traditional” poutine offering, Refreshment Port like to mix it up each year by also offering a twist on the classic dish, and this year’s concoction is the Shrimp Scampi Poutine. Sounds like one for the seafood fans, for sure!
We’ll be honest and say that, at first, the shrimp-scampi-cheese curds-and-fries-combo didn’t really sound all that appealing, even with the added flavors of the lemon-garlic cheese fondue, spinach, and artichokes.
However, once it arrived, we have to say that our reporters were pleasantly surprised!
While it may not look the most aesthetically appealing (although, does poutine ever?), the smell of this dish was really something. We’re thrilled to report that the flavors worked incredibly well together as well!
The shrimp was cooked beautifully, and the unique mashup of ingredients just worked so surprisingly nicely. All in all, definitely one to try out!
A portion of this seafood poutine costs $10.50 at Refreshment Port. Alternatively, you could select the “traditional” version for $7.50.
Moving on now, let’s wash all those glorious carbs with a fun drink, shall we?
This here is the Frozen Mojito, also new on the menu at Refreshment Port, and costing $12.50. It’s a hot day out and we could do with a fun drink, so let’s give it a try!
This classic mojito cocktail is made using Boyd & Blair Rum. It was MickeyBlogger Miranda who tried this one out, and her first reaction was that it was a strong, strong option! That’s in terms of both the alcohol taste and the powerful flavor of fresh mint. Whew!
All in all, we really enjoyed our visit to Refreshment Port this year, especially as it made such a great improvement since last year’s fiasco.
We’d certainly recommend you give it a try when you’re next passing through the Flower & Garden Festival, especially if you’re in the mood for some unique poutine!
