Primavera Kitchen Adds New Twist to Traditional Favorites
Buongiorno from the Italy pavillion at EPCOT! Our tasty exploration around World Showcase continues now with Primavera Kitchen, a specialty food booth featured each year during the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival. Let’s check out this year’s offerings!
For the sake of research (of course), we tried the entire menu during our visit this afternoon. This year’s choices include a Caesar con Gamberett (a Caesar salad with srhimp), the tortelloni primavera, and an epically elevated childhood throwback dessert, the Budino alle Nicciole.
Tortelloni Primavera at Primavera Kitchen
The tortelloni ($9.75) evoked such stellar images of a garden on a plate. Suprisingly dry due to the small amount of brown butter sauce, we liked the saltiness of the pancetta. The spring vegetables brought a bright, earthy sweetness to the dish too.
Caesar con Gamberett
The Caesar con Gamberett ($7.75), deemed “lettuce in a cup” today by some, brought a light-hearted twist to a familiar dish. With traditional parmesan and garlic-forward flavors, the small salad does also pack a bit of protein with its small shrimp nestled amongst the lettuce leaves.
Thanks to the robust size of the romaine leaves, MickeyBlogger Miranda actually found it fun to make a shrimp lettuce wrap out of the salad as she strolled through the area.
Budino alle Nicciole
Though bursting with grown-up flavors, the Budino alle Nicciole ($6.75) took MickeyBlogger Miranda straight back to her childhood thanks to the playful presentation. The fresh custard created such a delicious bite with its rich chocolate-hazelnut pudding topped with dirt-like chocolate cookie crumbles.
We especially loved the detail in this dessert. Gummy worm emerged from the chocolate-filled ground, and the first signs of spring growth popped in the mint garnish.
Primavera Kitchen sits opposite to the Italy Pavillion on the World Showcase walkway. Situated on World Showcase Lagoon, it’s an excellent place to stop for a snack and a glass of wine from the Vinotecca across the way.
