VIDEO: Josh Gad Gets His Chance To Be a Jungle Cruise Skipper
Last Summer, when Josh Gad received his Disney Legends Award for his role bringing Olaf in Frozen to life, he gave what has to be one of my favorite acceptance speeches EVER! The ceremony took place as part of the D23 EXPO held in Anaheim where Josh Gad threw shade at the casting director who didn’t give him the job after he auditioned for the role of Jungle Cruise Skipper at the age of 18.

Well, less than a year later, dreams really do come true. Disney took to social media this morning to share a video of Gad donning his skipper hat and dazzling the crowd with his hilarious puns on The Jungle Cruise!
Josh seemed perfectly at home in his role as Skipper and the dad jokes were plentiful! Forget Olaf and his role as Le Fou in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, this was Gad’s time to shine! We love the way that he embraced the role, costume and all. As a matter of fact, if you look closely, you’ll notice an adorable detail on his nametag.

For those unfamiliar, Josh Gad is the (self proclaimed) Angela Lansbury of his generation. He warmed his way into our heart as the loveable snowman, Olaf from the Frozen franchise. This is a role that included all three Frozen films as well as Frozen Fever (2015), LEGO® Disney Frozen: Northern Lights (2016), Olaf’s Frozen Adventure (2017), At Home with Olaf (2020), Once Upon a Snowman (2020), and Olaf Presents (2021).

Gad won two Annie Awards for Outstanding voice actor for his role as Olaf. In 2017, Gad also starred as LeFou, Gaston’s sidekick in the live-action Beauty and the Beast, and in 2020, he portrayed Mulch Diggums in Artemis Fowl. Other noteworthy Disney projects include Mickey’s 90th Spectacular (2018), The Disney Family Singalong (2020), Murder on the Orient Express (2017), Modern Family (2011), and Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom (2020). Gad was also nominated for a Tony award for The Book of Mormon.
