Welcome back to our magical trip through the Walt Disney Company’s past. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- February 19.
February 19th was slower day in Disney history. We did however still see the return of a classic Disneyland attraction, the release of a Goofy cartoon, and Mickey Mouse visiting China! So, let’s get started!
Pluto and the Armadillo Released (1943)
Directed by Clyde Geronomi, the short featured Pluto befriending an armadillo while on a trip to South America. Interestingly, the short was originally planned to be a part of The Three Caballeros.
Hello Aloha Released (1952)
On this day in 1952, the Goofy short Hello Aloha was released.
Directed by Jack Kinny, the short finds Goofy living our any workers dream and quitting his job to live on a tropical island.
Mickey Mouse Visits China (1985)
On this day in 1985, Mickey Mouse visited China.
The visit was a part of Disneyland’s 30th anniversary, that saw the mouse visiting 30 cities in 30 days.
Disneyland Announces Captain EO is Returning (2010)
On this day in 2010. Disneyland announced that Captain EO would be returning to the park on February 23.
The classic Disney attraction returned as a tribute to the recently deceased Michael Jackson who starred in the film.
Flora & Ulysses Debuts (2021)
On this day in 2021, Flora & Ulysses debuted on Disney+.
The new comedy tells the story of an imaginative 10 year old girl who rescues a squirrel, only to discover that he has super-powers!
