BREAKING: Disney Announces Toy Story, Frozen, Zootopia Sequels Are In The Works
While all eyes on Wall Street are focused on Disney + and the Walt Disney Company’s earnings report, Disney fans across the world got some amazing news!
During its earnings call toady, Disney announced that sequels are in the works for Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia!
Toy Story 5?
For Toy Story, Disney and Pixar will once again revisit the franchise that originally debuted in 1995. The question surrounding the future of the franchise will center on Woody. Andy’s original cowboy toy was last seen living his life with Bo Peep, away from the rest of Bonnie’s toys.
A Toy Story sequel that doesn’t feature Woody would certainly feel strange, so it remains to be seen how Disney handles the conundrum.
A Return to Zootopia
For Zootopia, the upcoming sequel will be first time viewers get to check back in with Judy and Nick since the original film was released.
The franchise has proved to be popular, with a loyal fan base who is often outspoken on social media.
Disney did continue the franchise with Zootopia + on Disney Plus, however that series featured six short stories set during the original film.
While we don’t have any details on either of what either of these sequels will entail, Disney fans everywhere are sure to be excited by the news!
Frozen III Is Coming
Last but not least, during the earnings call, Disney confirmed that viewers will be returning to Arendelle.
The upcoming film will be the third installment in the series. The most recent release, Frozen II, received rave review from critics and fans alike.
Since its initial release, Frozen has been an international sensation. A third installment in the franchise, was likely a no brainier.
Implications For Walt Disney World
If you are a fan of Walt Disney World, you have to wonder if the upcoming Zootopia film will serve as a catalyst for a Zootopia land to come to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Disney previously announced “blue sky” plans for a mini Zootopia land to replace DinoLand USA.
Now, that the franchise will once again be front and center in popular culture. That has to help the land’s chances of being built.
Toy Story on the other hand, has a dedicated land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. So, any future installments in the franchise will have a natural tie-in in Walt Disney World. Frozen likewise has taken over the Norway pavilion at EPCOT.
